Tamils naturally acquire proficiency in their mother tongue, Tamil, while also mastering English as an international language, enabling them to communicate effectively on a global scale. When they travel to North India for work, education, or other purposes, they can learn Hindi as needed for practical, day-to-day interactions. However, there is absolutely no necessity for them to adopt any third language.
The central government’s persistent attempts to impose Hindi on Tamils, under the guise of national integration, are not only unjust but also futile. Such coercive linguistic policies disregard the rich linguistic heritage of Tamil Nadu and are unlikely to yield any political advantage. Instead, they only serve to alienate the Tamil-speaking population, reinforcing their commitment to preserving their linguistic and cultural identity.
